This year’s winner of the Coalhouse Fort Easter balloon race was six year old Taya Tredwell from Grays.
Taya released her balloon from the roof of the fort on a snowy cold Easter Sunday. As Taya and the fort volunteers watched the balloon disappear across the Thames no one could have guessed that it would end up travelling an incredible 350 miles to Burgundy in France. Stunned Coalhouse staff received an e-mail confirming the incredible journey of the balloon a few days later. Lucky Taya pictured above with her mother Leah (far left) and balloon race organiser Melanie Davis (centre) and Coalhouse fort vice chairman Ken.
As well as some balloons to take home, Taya received a certificate and £50 worth of toy vouchers.
