Should be an interesting sale - it's described as a Mk 1 FV62!!! Got a missing digit in the FV number there... Wording of the advert goes:
| Quote: | | You are bidding to buy a very well preserved, rare and collectable Alvis Stalwart Mark 1. FV620 6 x 6 5000kg high mobility load carrier. There were only 140 of these manufactured, so this is very collectable, whilst about 1400 of the Mk2 were produced. |
However the pictures show a Mk 2 (FV622) and the way the seating arrangement in the cab is described is more along the line of the FV623/FV624 Limber/REME vehicles.

The driver is seated in the centre of the cab with a single passenger seat either side. |
Mk 1's only had the driver and one passenger to his left. To the right were the document case and storage space. I'm wondering if the seller has got their wires crossed over the Mk1 /Mk 2 models.......
I saw it first a couple of nights ago and the price was £150 - it's crept up to £686 at the time of this post.
To make it a swimmer you'll need to budget on about another £1,000 (max.) over the selling price plus some serious amounts of work to replace all the missing components. If anyones interested it would be worth asking the usual question about the state of the tracta's and bevel boxes - one of the wheel stations gone means at least £500 and a LOT of work!!
Addendum - Seller has added the caveat that it is actually an early Mk 2.... Not a Mk 1 as stated.
