Landrover Defender

I've always wanted to get one and have been looking at various ex MOD and private one's. Plus lightweight versions but these are generally petrol and i wanted a diesel. Anything i should look out for when getting one of these? Typical wear & tear etc?

Any help appreciated.

Quite like the look of this one.

Cheers Lee. If i join this group though, i won't have to rub black oil in my whiskers and smell of diesel will i?  Laughing
AMVG

no, you will have to just get the beers in for everyone
Kasper

It would probably be cheaper to buy a new Landrover knowing you lot  Laughing

Well i'm now the proud owner of an ex-military series III Landrover 109.
Nicknamed "Desert Storm"
Served in the Gulf war among other things.

Can't wait to bring her down the fort.  Very Happy
AMVG

well done kasper, where's the photo's then??????
Kasper

She's having a spruce up in the workshop at the mo.
Should be a couple of weeks.
saracenstump

oh no not another landrover!!!only joking mate, welcome to the money pit!!!lol
Kasper

It is a desert coloured one though. So a bit different.
Been looking at the EMLRA forum. Might need help with the stickers.
It has the original gun rack in it too.
Would be nice to fit some mock guns inside if allowed.
It also has the infrared set up on it. For running undetected in the dark.
Kasper

Finally got her!

Didn't realise how hard to drive she would be. Guess i just have to get used to her. Brakes, what brakes trying to stop 3 tonnes of Landy!

Ok excuse my ignorance here. But if....

1000 Kilogrammes = 1 Tonne

Then taken from under the bonnet

2710kg unlaiden weight is more or less 3 tonne

Yes?
Kasper

It's gone very quite on here?  Laughing

Hope they bring me back a present from the War & Peace show.
AMVG

no thats gross weight and remember its imperial tons not metric tonnes that we are referring too, look on the military data plate not the civviy one, should be on the seat box on the drivers side as you open the door
Kasper

Hmmm. Not so sure Stuart. I still think you owe me a present from war&peace!

How did it go by the way? Good time?

Read some reports that it was great fun.
