Drop RedoubtWestern Heights Preservation Society (www.dover-western-heights.org)
Well, we have the Open Weekend on 3rd/4th June this year and each year we hope to add a new section to the tour which is open to the public. In the short term the plan is to build up funds to be able to pay to re-introduce power into the site. Having been abandoned from the past 50 years, we are trying to stop the deterioration (like Detached Bastion) and preserve the site for the public and the future. Power will enable security/work to take place.
Our current project is to clear bricks from the former staff-sergeants quarters to stop the place looking like a building site and for the shorter term tidy the bricks into one of the casemates.
